01 · Overview

Tree removal in Essex & Suffolk

Tree removal is a necessary part of arboriculture — and one we take seriously, professionally and safely. Tree Volution is based in Colchester, Essex. We carry out tree removal across Essex and Suffolk, and we can often help further afield — get in touch with your postcode and we will tell you straight.

Whether a tree is dead, dying, hazardous near a building or simply in the way, we plan each job around access, neighbours and what you need left behind. We work with local authorities on clearance heights and conditions — the same standard of service we bring to private gardens across Colchester and the wider county.

When is tree removal needed?

Our tree removal service eliminates dead or dying trees, trees that pose a risk near homes and outbuildings, and trees that block light, access or planned works. Sometimes a local authority requires a minimum clearance height — we have worked with several councils and can meet their conditions.

If you simply need a tree gone, we will advise on the safest method: straight felling where space allows, or sectional dismantling where it does not.

Do you need to remove a tree stump?

Nothing requires you to remove a stump after the tree is down. Many clients still choose to — to reduce trip hazards, limit decay and insects, or stop unappealing regrowth.

We can leave the stump in place or carry out stump grinding to 300mm below ground, ready for turf or planting.

02 · How it works

The tree removal process

  1. 01

    Site visit & survey

We arrive on site, examine the tree and surroundings, and talk through your brief — including any local authority clearance requirements. You receive a written quote within 48 hours.

  2. 02

    Sectional dismantling

For larger trees or tight spaces, a qualified climber removes the canopy in sections, rigging pieces down on ropes. Ground crew manage the landing zone and protect beds, lawns and structures.

  3. 03

    Trunk removal & tidy

Once the crown is down, the trunk is cut in controlled stages. Brash and timber are cleared by hand — chipped away by default, or left for your beds if you prefer.

  4. 04

    Stump options

You can keep the stump or ask us to grind it out below ground level so the area is ready for grass or new planting. We will confirm stump work in your quote.

05 · Frequently asked

The questions we hear most.

Every job is quoted on site — price depends on tree size, access, proximity to buildings and what happens to the stump. We do not charge for the quote visit, and the written quote is the price you pay.
